Peacock is making the live action, and Jeff Hays will voice Donut.

It's the right call. But was it the best use of him?

First I want to say that I believe that is the best casting for Donut possible and in no way do I think anyone would have made a better Donut. What I want to talk about is would there be any other role that would have been better? Realistically despite the fact that we want Jeff Hays to voice almost everyone, he will be able to only do 1 character so which one is best.

Originally I thought Jeff Hays should play the AI, and my thinking for that was that the AI has to portray so much with just its voice. Is it angry, is it bored, is it feeling the need to watch Carl step on hamsters with his bare feet? The AI has also evolved so much over the books (I'll avoid spoilers but if you read Book 8 then well you know) and you need an amazing voice actor to convey the changes and evolutions. Now Donut I always was thinking of someone like Christine Baranski or Catherine Tate, or someone with that personality.

Having had time to think about everything I realized how wrong I was, because Donut is so important to us, and can you imagine anyone else doing Donut and putting their own spin on it the outrage the fans will have will be amazing. Donut more then the AI is a voice and personality that is so difficult to capture and so beautifully portrayed by Jeff Hays. Donut is to important to everyone, and based on item sales I can say by FAR the most popular character lol, so we need Jeff Hays to protect our Donut.
